Acura 1.8L DOHC Integra GSR Supercharger System Installation Instructions

Proper installation of this supercharger kit requires general automotive mechanic knowledge and experience. Please browse through each step of this instruction manual prior to beginning the installation to determine if you should refer the job to a professional installer/technician. Please call Vortech Engineering for installers in your area.

Before beginning this installation, please read through this entire instruction booklet and the Street Supercharger System Owner’s Manual which includes the Automotive Limited Warranties Program and the Warranty Registration form.

Vortech supercharger systems are performance improving devices. In most cases, increases in torque of 30-35% and horsepower of 35-45% can be expected with the boost levels specified by Vortech Engineering. This product is intended for use on healthy, well maintained engines. Installation on a worn-out or damaged engine is not recommended and may result in failure of the engine as well as the supercharger.

Installation on new vehicles will not harm or adversely affect the break-in period so long as factory break-in procedures are followed.

For best performance and continued durability, please take note of the following key points:

1. Use only premium grade fuel 92 octane or higher (R+M/2).


2. The engine must have stock compression ratio.


3. If the engine has been modified in any way, check with Vortech prior to using this product.


4. Always listen for any sign of detonation (pinging) and discontinue hard use (no boost) until problem is resolved.


5. Perform an oil and filter change upon completion of this installation and prior to test driving your vehicle. Thereafter, always use a high grade SF rated engine oil or a high quality synthetic, and change the oil and filter every 3000 miles or less. Never attempt to extend the oil change interval beyong 3000 miles, regardless of oil manufacturer’s claims as potential damage to the supercharger may
   result.

Acura Service Bulletin 96-025

This service bulletin applies to the navigation control unit, the display unit or the audio-HVAC display unit, and the hard disk drive (HDD) of the Acura Navigation System.

Only remanufactured components should be used for warranty repairs on customer vehicles. Use the warranty information and procedures given in this service bulletin. New components should be used to repair new, unsold vehicles.

This is a requirement in some states. A new component may be used to repair a customer vehicle only if the remanufactured component is currently unavailable from American Honda. Get authorization from the District Parts and Service Manager before ordering a new component.

Turbo Systems Installation Instructions Acura Integra / Honda Civic

Study these instructions completely before proceeding. Engine and/or turbocharger damage may occur if any component within these instructions is improperly installed. Turbonetics, Inc. or any of its distributors cannot be held responsible for damages as a result of negligent or improper installation.

This complete turbocharger system can be installed using common tools and automotive procedures, but installer must have a thorough knowledge of automotive engine operation and feel comfortable working on the vehicle. If in doubt, consult a knowledgeable turbo installer or Turbonetics tech support specialist with any questions.

Although this turbo system has been designed to use existing emissions controls (including catalytic converter), check local laws regarding aftermarket modification to emission controlled vehicles. Remove the turbocharger kit from its carton and inspect for any obvious physical damage.

All kit components are thoroughly inspected and carefully packaged prior to shipment from the factory. If any shipping damage is evident, contact your supplier and request that they process a claim with the shipper involved. Be sure to review the Turbo System Parts List to verify that you have all necessary kit components to proceed. If any components in the parts list are missing, contact Turbonetics, Inc. Customer Service department.

Before proceeding, it is recommended to have the following items:

• Honda / Acura service / repair manual


• A large table / bench nearby


• Standard selection of automotive tools


• Plenty of adjacent available workspace


• The ability to lift the vehicle (at least a foot or two off the ground)


• Replacement oil pan gasket or RTV sealant, oil filter and engine coolant

Backup Sensors

The sensors are ready for operation when the shift lever is moved to the reverse position with the backup sensor switch turned ON.

Operation of the sensors is dependent upon the ultrasonic waves they emit. They calculate the distance between the sensor and a rear obstacle by measuring the time until the ultrasonic waves reach the sensor after being reflected by the obstacle.

The sensors are designed to give you an audible signal when the rear bumper of your vehicle is approaching an obstacle.

Thank you for your purchase of the HONDA/ACURA IPOD LOCKPICK. This unit is designed for applications in a wide variety of HONDA and ACURA vehicles across many years and models. Advanced features including on-screen text, steering wheel, radio and touch screen control of your iPOD.

The IPOD LOCKPICK will operate in XM capable HONDA or ACURA radios (button labeled XM present) without the loss of any factory functions, even if a factory XM tuner is present. Included with your interface are licensed connectors for reliable iPOD operation and stereo AUX input jacks for connection to any other source you would like to play through your factory sound system.

The HONDA/ACURA IPOD LOCKPICK uses a simple “T” harness for installation using factory connectors so there is no need to cut/splice any wires, or locate power, ground and audio. The interface is truly plug and play. The factory connectors are individually keyed so you cannot plug them into the wrong location.

VEHICLES WITH OR WITHOUT A FACTORY XM TUNER PRESENT

2007 ACURA TL TYPE-S

After a three-year hiatus, the Type-S reintegrates the TL fold. For 2007, this version features a 3.5-litre V6, rather than a 3.2-litre. The engine makes 286 horsepower and can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic. The Type-S also comes specially equipped with exclusive wheels, front four-piston Brembo brake callipers, a firmed-up suspension, and more.

Interior and trunk

Access is relatively easy for both front and rear passengers. The front seats are very comfortable. However, stocky people wearing heavy clothing will feel like their back is supported more by the big side bolsters than by the seatback, which is not very comfortable on long trips. However, if you fit between the side supports, you’ll fully appreciate these seats. Thanks to the tilt/telescoping steering column, the driving position is excellent.

The rear bench seat is comfortable for two adults but only if they are not too tall, because the cushion is low. Headroom and legroom are good. The seatback does not fold but does have a ski pass-through. You have to be careful of the safety lock anchor plates; because of their shape and position on the wheel wells, they can easily catch or soil your clothing.

The very roomy trunk has a good, relatively wide opening and recessed lid hinges that won’t damage items placed inside.
